ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN GUIDELINES FOR GOLETA OLD TOWN |
While working as an urban planner for Santa Barbara County Planning & Development Department, Heather was the project manager to develop the Goleta Old Town Heritage District Architecture & Design Design Guidelines. The project included public engagement and management of a community advisory group, conducting a visual preference survey, research of design guidelines from across the country, managing technical consultants, writing key sections of the guidelines, preparing staff reports to decisionmakers, and adoption hearings with the Board of Architecture Review, Planning Commission and County Board of Supervisors.
DIVISION-HAWTHORNE MAIN STREET DESIGN GUIDELINES
The PDX Main Streets Design Guidelines was developed for Division Street in SE Portland and adopted by many communities for their main streets. The Design Guidelines offer design advice for developers, designers and community members on how to plan for new buildings and streetscape improvements that are compatible with the foundational character and identity of Portland’s vintage streetcar-era main street corridors. This document was developed in partnership with a coalition of local designers, neighborhood associations, business districts and community leaders. The project was spearheaded by Heather Flint Chatto, co-founder of the Division Design Initiative and PDX Main Streets.
SELLWOOD-MORELAND MAIN STREET DESIGN GUIDELINES
Forage Design + Planning co-wrote these main street architecture and design guidelines in collaboration with Qamar Architecture & Town Planning, PDX Main Streets and the Sellwood-Moreland Improvement League (SMILE). The design team facilitated a community visioning process with public workshops, walking tour, community surveys, and developed priorities for the future of the neighborhood to help new growth fit the design patterns of this undesignated historic area with multiple main streets.
